Most Power For $1000?
My friend has a 2000 400EX with a James Lucky airbox removal kit and that's all, stock jetting, tires, everything. What internal and external mods could he afford to do for around $1000 that would give it the most power? I was thinking porting (don't know what company?), cam (which one is best?), piston (what compression would be best for pump gas, and stock bore or bigger?), also, do you really gain much w/ a full system on a 400EX or would he be ok with slip on? Also, is Sparks a good exhaust for the 400? Thanks alot for any replies.

if hes gonna go into internal motor mods (cam, piston, porting) a full system exhaust would be best. He should go with;
440 kit-$450 installed (not sure if u can run pump gas on 13:1 comp)
Hotcam stage II-$120
WB slip-on-$220
bigger carb 38-39mm- can find used for about $125-150
jet kit and K&N airfilter-$80
all this for a whopping $995!
Or he can leave the motor stock and go with a better suspension
shocks-$350-700 for decent ones
axle- $290-how much do u really wanna spend on an axle
flip front rims-FREE!

Best bang for the buck huh? If he cams it I would suggest the webcam. Make sure he gets over sized valves and the new heavy duty valve springs. Also, remember when camming you are shooting yourself in the foot by not porting. My brother just cam'd his raptor and for $300.00 he can now keep up with my raptor which is running an LRD exhaust hah hah. By not porting he really lost out. LRD is the ONLY company I will buy from. Arlen Lehman "founder and owner" is a GOD when it comes to pulling more HP. Look at all the GNCC's that were and ARE being won because of them. Ask for JAson!
PS you cannot run pump gas on anything with a compression ratio higher than 10:1.
Also NO Slip on pipes spend the money on a full aftermarket exhaust.
When buying a jet kit ....mmmmmmm......NO!!! You are basically paying for the needle so just buy a needle and have your Honda dealer jet it for you. Jets typically run around $5.00 a piece.
USE THE FORCE LUKE AND BUY LRD!!!!!
Bill Ballance would want you to!!!!
