im makin my 400 into a 416 and i was wondering what is the best way to get the most power out of it jetting head work ?

 

The Sparks racing FCR carb is one of the biggest thing you can do.

 

250r4life- the sparks racing fcr carb that you are talking about is that for a 400 ex and if so do you know what the cost is because i am looking for a carb that will work on my wifes 440 ex.i see you live in bakersfield , i lived there years ago myself and i used to do a lot of hillclimbing out by hart park and the entrance to the kern canyon do you ever do any hillclimbing out that way?when i first moved there i thought there would not be any challenging hills to climb but i sure found that there were some that were pretty decent.do you know the hillclimbs that i am talking about?

Oh yea and another way to get power out of the 416 is cams, high comp piston, and head work, the complete package...

 

I had a 416 kit put in last winter. It made an amazing difference. Here's what I did.

JE 10.8-1 piston
Stage II Hotcam
Heavy Duty valve springs
Heavy duty clutch springs
Heavy duty cam chain
Port and polish
Uni air filter
Yoshimura slip on
Ground out header welds
165 main jet

I had the Yosh and the Uni on before the kit.


I also bought a stock carb to send to Sparks to have bored out to a 38mm. Haven't sent it yet. But heard from many that it makes a huge difference.
