The other day my friends and I went mudding in a big road ditch that had just been filled in with clay. There wasn't any water, just claylike mud. We all made it through twice without much effort. Then I went through a third time and was in only about a 14 inch rut on one side and probably 10 on the other, and my tires wouldn't spin in 1st gear. I have a brand new 2000 Honda Racher 4x4 that is completely stock. I got off a pushed with all my might and once it budged a little the tires spun about 5 mph and crawled right out. My other fried has the same quad and had the same problem. Another friend tried it with a 300 4x4 with blackwaters. He popped his clutch to move about 12 inches everytime. The person that went through it the last time was my friend with a '84 200ES BigRed. He put it in low one and it wouldn't spin the tires. He got only about 1/4 the way through and got buried. Most of the time we just lift him out, but we couldn't this time. We used a four wheeler to pull and three guys pushing and couldn't pull him out. We went back and got a truck. The truck and three guys couldn't get him out when the three wheeler was off. We had it off because his engine was too hot. Finally with the three wheeler in reverse and the truck a pullin and three guys pushing we barely got it out. When I took my Rancher on the road after getting out I bogged in 2nd gear right away untill some mud cakes fell off.

I am not surprised the engine wouldn't turn the wheels in clay like that. You refer to it as a problem. It is not a problem with the machines. In situations like that don't spend too much time trying to get those wheels spinning. Engine overheating will occur pretty quick. You can say goodbye to the clutch material pretty quickly too.

Our machines do have limits. If we don't recognize the limits we had better have deep pockets!

yea. that happened to me on my 300 4x4 one time. I was in wet sand and spun the wheels until I was up to the seat in crap. So we got a truck, and it buried itself in the sand tryin to pull my quad out, so we got a tractor and pulled the truck out, then my quad. the tractor was like a 2590 or something (I cant really remember) and it was spinning its wheels pulling me out.
