Hey guys i am 15 years old, 6'1'' tall, and weigh about 160 pounds.

I want a sport quad for riding in the tight woods and mud, rocks, hills, water, ect, but i also want one thats FAST and a good jumper. IT HAS TO HAVE REVERSE!!

At first i was thinking of a 250x, but then i realized that they are kinda slow. I want something used at a reasonable price.


What should i get!!!!!!! thanks guys

 

a 250x or 300ex are excellent trail quads,they arent slow for their size, and when on a tight 4trail would you get it over 15mph? these quads would be the best for what you want to do, i do the same thing you do on my 300ex and i think its hard to beat. oh yeah, a few mods and these can get pretty fast, they respond real good to some mods out there, and the suspension is real good to for jumping semi big jumps, i wouldnt do real big dirt bike jumps(like i have done before) but it can take pretty much anything you throw at it.

 

Well the Kawasaki Mojave is faster than the 300EX, and it does have reverse. Its shocks however, suck, its not a good jumper. If you want a good jumper, the 400EX really moves, and is decent in the air. IMO, the Suzuki Z400 has it all. Its fast, has reverse, better shocks than the 400EX, liquid cooled, and looks friggin awesome. This is a Honda forum, and Im not tryin to bash Honda, Im telling you my opinion, and thats what you asked for, so please people, no flaming. The Z can do it all. Find one thats used, one that someone has dumped money into, chances are youll get it way under what a dealer would sell it to you for. Good luck man.

I was thinking about getting a modded 250x. They are faster than 300ex's and have reverse. I rode a modded one today after posting this question and want one. Tell me what you think.

 

For your size, the 250 will be too small. You will outgrow it fast, since you are only 15. Im 16 next month, I wanted something I wouldnt grow out of, I got the Z400. Im rihgt around the 115 pound mark, 5'8". The 300EX has reverse too. Like I said the Kawasaki Mojave is faster than the 300EX.

I have a piped, jetted and filtered 250X motor in a Suzuki 230 Quadsport frame. I'm more than happy with the amount of power and torque it has and I have no need for more. I ride the tight trails and spend more time in mud and water than blasting down a straight away. Going fast is fun but playing in the trials is WAAAAAAY better. I'm 6'2" and about 160 pounds so I'm your size and my only compliant is the frame I have the motor in sucks. For some reason all the guys with the new machines want to ride my old clunker so I guess it can't be that bad. If you ride rough and tight trails the 250X or 300EX is the way to go. Reverse is a blessing when you are ***** deep in mud and water!

 

i have a 1998 300ex.i love it it was my first quad.im 5'7 120lbs.im not big so it will haul with me on it.it is the best trail quad in my opinion and theyre pretty cheap too...very fun bike
