The Yamaha Warrior, Banshee, and Blaster have all had 6 speeds for most of their run, if not all of it. Wish my raptor had an extra gear....

The 400ex is great. For a while it was the king of the 4 stroke performance hill. I went to buy a new bike in 02 and was looking at the ex. The only problem was that the raptor was a helluva lot faster and only the ds was competition at the time. I didnt plan on racing any AMA sanctioned mx so i went with the rappy. If honda would have had something to compete, I would have taken it over the yammi or ds. Why, because hondas are bulletproof. I have owned many including 200 and 350 x trikes, a 250r trike, and 3 r's. An 86, 87, and 88. All excellent bikes.

The 400ex is a great bike, but its not in competition with the kings of the hill. the 450's, or the big bores can take one out in a blink of an eye. now when you mod them, different story. Dont let a few people tell you your quad is junk because its not the fastest. They are wrong. But just having the fastest quad doesnt make it the best...

 

exactly.mt 300 may not be the best but good enough for me. an firend of mine has a 400ex and it is great i like it better than a raptor the way it handles everything

 

Ok the WARRIOR was around BEFORE the 400EX thank it! Also, the ONLY thing YAMAHA has to do is claim the BANSHEE is a CLOSED COURSE machine only!!! They can sell it as long as they would like!!! You think the ban on 2 strokes is gonna make all the manufacturers quit making the 2 smoker dirtbikes??? Don't think so!!! Its very simple, run down to any local dealer and ask that very same question!!! Thats all they have to do!! That was from a HONDA dealer too!!!! Alos one last thing..................THE BANSHEE is the LONGEST SELLING QUAD OF ALL TMIE!!!! HOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN SELLING THAT MACHINE??? I WONDER WHY THAT IS! If people didnt buy them, don't you think they would quit selling them and manufacturing them!!! Really bro give YAMAHA credit then!!! Least they had the ***** to keep producing sport quads while all the other manufacturers crawled off into a corner scared!!!! NOT EVEN YOU CAN ARGUE THAT!!!!!!!!!

 

your right about a few things...with the 400 scrammy...you can get that thing sickly fast, put out 85HP spending under 2500 for it, i dont think you can accomplish those numbers on the 400ex(built tough, built simple, but slow), and for the fact your truck weighs less than 571lbs, thats one tiny ased truck. And that tweek that auto, and you can launch, and accelerate faster than a manual, plus the auto keeps the engine in its peek HP rpm range, little more dificult with a manual(dont get me wrong, i love the manual tranny on my rm) but the auto can be tweeked with spring/weight changes in the PVT to be superior than a manual.


and for spending extra money to get a 400ex faster than a z400....just pop that much money into both quads, and poof, Z is a little faster...

 

You probably could. With the right engine and setup it is extremely fast. And I don't mean your average 440's that are fast....take a look at sparks 465 alky 400ex motor. ever see one of these run? absolutely insanely fast

 

Dude the warrior sux A$$ and it isnt even considered a high performance quad, even the 300ex is the all around better quad. You think the manufactures are going to still produce 2 strokes???? Wait till the environmental protection agency gets involved, i can garentee you that they will have to stop. Why do you think honda's 2 strokes say that they are epa approves until 06 or 08 something like that??? Because after that they will be done producing 2 strokes.

 

I was exagerrating about my truck you know. I was just trying to say the scrambler is an over weight piece of trash that needs to go on a diet and get a manual transmission. Why would anyone want to put around 2500 in a scrambler anyways??? I race one on the track with that 2500 put in the motor and still run circles around because the thing cannot jump and handle like a 400ex and by the way the 400ex is by no means slow, its faster than 95% of the other quads out there including the scrambler

 

well!!!! hmmmm I guess all I can really say is I'm not the biggest fan of 4-strokes but I will agree that the 400ex is the absolut best wheelie ridden machine I've ever planted my A$$ on.....second would be the Vforce. but anyway it you were in a tight trail hare scramble the EX could stick right with any of its 400 series counter parts and this may get me in trouble because I'm already being watched but TELECOGRIZZ man you get on my nerves you my know the sport, and you may have been around for a while but give my a break YOU DON"T KNOW EVERYTHING.....and the world does not revolve around candied "YAMS"....I mean you make it sound like the other manufactures are only in buisness so yamaha has someone to beat up on....just like if you would have read the mans post he said 4-STROKE not 2-stroke...give me a break the warrior "not saying its a bad quad" but it had no influence on the new sport/race quads....so no credit will be given there. and as for the "2 smoker" remark!! why do you have to talk bs about a basic design motor that can easily produce more horse power than a complicated cammer. sorry if I have ofened anyone in here, I think each person knows what the best quad for themself is and if its yours and you like it tell everyone else to PI$$ off. I think all quads are great I just get sick of know it alls

 

If you re-read my post you might actually find that the only thing I stated was the Banshee was still being sold when KAWASAKI, HONDA and SUZUKI quit selling their machines!!! Give them credit for that!!! Your talking about me being making you upset?? You might need to re-read some of your own post's on other topics where you claim your extinct god almighty Tecate is the best thing running and I have never claimed to be a KNOW IT ALL!!!!!!!! I am entitled to my opinion as you are to yours!!! If you don't like what I have to say SKIP my post when you see it, no one forces you to read it or like what I have to say!!

Arobred400, if you were to actually have facts behind your assumptions of the ban on 2 strokes then I might feel your post was credible! However if you look up the EPA guidelines involved with the so called band on 2 strokes you will see in clear ENGLISH, that it says the BAN on 2 strokes DOES NOT and I repeat DOES NOT pertain to ATV's and DIRTBIKES that are claimed "competition use only "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do not believe me, just PM KnowsAlot and ask him the same question!! Better yet here is his post in the other topic 2006 banning of 2 strokes:

As far as quads........It would depend on whether Yamaha wants to label the Blaster and Banshee as "Pure Race" quads." - Written by KnowsAlot!
