i put a 416 and a stage 2 hotcam with an 11;1 compression ans it made a big diffrence, then i bought the carb and headwork and that was a even bigger diffrence. piston was 100 and cam was 140 carb 574 and headwork was 250 so around so that is 1064 theres a grand for ya and just to let you know i cant touch a yfz on a track or in a drag and i have susoension and a arms, axle etx so on a mx track all this stuff i have has done me no good for the new competion the 400 ex i hate to say it is not competition anymore compared to the yfz. as soon as the new honda hits the dealers floor i will have one that is how a honda will beat a yfz without a grand in aftermarket parts. go get the new honda 450 when it comes out if u wanna beat a yfz but if u want ur 400 ex to do the jod sart saving up for nos and a 490 stoker kit

hondapowered,

Did you ride your 416 before the fcr and then after, changing only the carb? Or did you a bunch at once?

A good mod for a 400EX is to replace it with a Z400. But, since you want to beat a YFZ-450 then you are going to sink a whole bunch of money in a quad that no one will want as soon as the 450R comes out, plus your EX will be finiky, less reliable than stock and still not as fast as a stock YFZ-450. Don't forget you will also need to upgrade teh shocks a-arms, axle, etc.
Save your pennies, buy a 450R.

Yeah, lick my nuts. i totally agree with hondabestOnearth. Go back to the yamaha forum where you belong. I could care the hell less that a raptor with an extra 260cc can beat a 400ex in a race. three of my friends have them and they sure aren't the most reliable bikes on the market. thats pretty bad considering there is two 2004's and one 2003. as far as quality build goes, don't even talk about that POS honda bull crap.
