Default Honda vs Grizz

I've got a Honda Foreman 400, thinking of upgrade and looking at a used Grizzly 600. Have heard of problems w/belt slip in water. Use my bike to hunt in rice & flooded timber. Should I stay away from the Yamaha?

I put over 3000 hard miles on my grizz and never had the belt slip in water, however it would sputter when water would splash up into the sparkplug area. if you can get a good deal go for it, they are good hard working bikes.

I've heard a lot of people complain about the grizzly's boiling gas and overheating .. you might want to check into that before getting one. Other than that, they are a wicked machine .. fast and smooth ..

Grizzly owners have been reporting serious problems with overheating and stalling. Yamaha has made changes to the 2004 model. Caution with buying a used Griz.

i have an '03, the problems can be fixed easily enough. a 600 is a way different machine than a 660. not the same problems.

Belts belong on sleds. If I had a nickel everytime I have ridden with a belt drive rider that said I can't go through there, my belt will get wet, or had to wait for someone to dry out a belt, I would be rich. Go with the proven fault free system. Less moving parts and maintenance is what Honda is all about. You can't beat it.

I haven't really had any problems, but I stay clear of the water like the other guy said. Haven't had it get wet, but don't want to have it happen either. I hate the belt drive on any quad that has it, but nobody will make a manual with the big engine and features.

I would have got a honda, but they can't understand the disc brake thing or the differential lock. I say put the rubicon transmission in the Rincon, ditch the futuristic styling, give it front discs so you don't have to pay Highlifter $385 for it, and add a diff-lock feature and I'll go trade in my Grizz on one.

Grizzly is a fun bike though. The 600 is lacking compared to the 660, but I guess it has its good points too.
