I have a 1987 trx300f quad, it has never failed to run. All I do to keep it in good shape is change the oil every once in a while. My family took it to the rocky mountains and rode it hard at this old age. The engine never stopped. As for some of my relatives, my aunt drove a yamaha big bear 400 4x4, the front wheel drive shaft fell off. My uncle drove a yamaha grizzly 660, while everyone was ready to go riding, he was cooling his overheated engine in the river. My other relative owns a prairie 650, he had it off the trailer for not even a n hour when he had to load back on because the engine failed. My 400ex, my dads rubicon, and the old legand 300 all went strong for the next five days of the trip, and everyday since.
If that's not enough, my last quad, before i traded it for an ex, was a 250 recon, i beat it like a rented mule. The engine never had a single problem, and now my 12 year old cousin owns it and jumps it, goes top speed all the time, and beats the machine harder than i ever did. NOT A PROBLEM.
One incident with a honda is no reason to start things about honda's reliability. I've known it for years, and so have many people, honda is reliable, extremely reliable. Keep your lies to yourself. By the way, shouldn't you be in your garage fixing your yamaha?

Man, I hate it when people start crap. You'll never see me say Honda is the most reliable, and you'll never see me say Yamaha is more reliable. Or any brand for that matter. Here's a list of machines that I have owned in my life time:
'83 Yamaha YTM200
My brother bought it new in '82 then gave it to me in '88, I sold it in '91. This thing was put through hell and never, ever broke down.
'85 Honda 250SX
Bought it in '90 and still have it. Never broke down.
'86 Tri-Z
Brother bought it new and, like the 200 gave it to me. The fuel pump went out, but other than that it was stock and still running when I sold it 7 years later.
'87 250X
Engine locked, not once, but twice. Still have it. . . I think. Haven't looked in a while.
'88 Blaster
Ran great for as long as I had it.
'88 Big Bear
Stock engine, still purrs like a kitten.
'01 Raptor
Still ticking.
And, yes, it does come down to personal experiences. No one can make a broad generalization that one manufacture produces more reliable machines than any other.
And about the spelling/grammatical thing, you're damned right it's important. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean you automatically have to be an idiot. I get pissed sometimes because I try to read a thread and people submit those damn "u r so cool me n u need to ride haha witch mahince do u tink is bestest" posts.
For the love of God, people. Punctuation, spelling correctly, using uppercase letters when called for, paragraph breaks, this why you did go/are going to school for, isn't it? You don't have to be perfect, no one is, but at least try.
I realize some on the ones that do this are young, which makes me worry about the future if you really want to know. Go to the library, read a book. It's good for you, trust me.

The Mighty Eceriderjbomb has finally let us know the truth. Thanks.
Why did you not post this on ...lets say the suzuki board. Saying how your quad is more reliable than suzuki? Its a sickness, we like to call "Honda envy" Get over it and stop being so jealousy of the fact honda is better.

I like hondas the best myself, but my uncle has a yamaha kodiak 400 4x4, and i have a foreman 400 4x4, and both have been great machines so far. My uncle just bought his kodiak(1999), and ive had my honda since it was new in 2000. Mine has about 2 times the miles his does. The worst problem ive ever had is a wheel bearing went out. Took about an hour to replace myself, and honda had the part in stock. His yamahas starter needed brushes, so were pretty even. My uncle had 2 blaster, and 1 had a bad problem, but the other ran good except the carb clogging up once.Thing is, i still think hondas are overall better than yamaha's but both are still great machines. He likes my foreman better, but its just what you like.He wanted a rancher, but ran across the kodiak for $1000 at an auction, and figured it was worth that, so he bought it, put about $500 in it since then, and its a pretty good machine.BOTH are good; just ride what you like! You shouldnt come in here starting stuff like that though.Or at least you better expect a flaming, and you deserve it if you get one.Ive pulled the blaster a few times because he got stuck;does that mean its a bad machine?no.
