Default New to quads need help

Im fairly new to quads. I just bought a 300ex and I am tryin to learn as much information about them and aftermarket products for them. I have many questions. these are a few:

1.why do people put parking brake block off on quads?

2. Will buying an aftermaket piston make a noticable differance?

3.If i get my rev limiter modified will it make a differance?

If anybody good answer these questions i would appreciate it. I have many more questions but dont want to bore you guys. thanks

couple of other questions:

1. Will the stock shocks be ok if i ride mainly trials, I weigh around 190? If that helps.

2.what tires are good for all around riding and trails?

for tires i'd get a set of holeshots, they look a lot better then the stock 300 tires, for the tire size go with 20x11x10

People use a p- brake block off because they are removing yhe p-brake. It's just one less thing to worry about. Buying a replacement piston wiil not do anything. Buying a higher compression piston will increase performance but can have other consiquences. The rev limiter will allow the motor to rev higher providing higher speeds through the gears in theory. IMO the rev limiter is best left stock unles you do internal engine mods. They just don't have much bang for the $. I would go with better shocks first, improve the handling and learn to ride. Then you can start modding your motor.

Your 300ex is set up to run on unleaded pump gas. If you increase the compression too much you will have to run premium gas, additives or race fuel. It isn't a big deal but some people don't want the added expense and or inconveince.

Could I just drop in a higher compression piston? Or do I have to change other things for piston to work? also will the stock clutch handle more power without getting heavyduty clutch springs or anything else?

i have a 300ex and i just put some maxxis 22-11-9 razr rears on it and i love them. they work great on what ive driven on so far(everything but sand and snow). my 300 is stock and i have been w.o.t on the gravel roads and ive never hit the rev limiter. i wouldnt consider messin with it unless you are bumping it. and still then id look into a gear change. id also consider the suspension mods first. im am 140 and 6'3'' and my quad could certainly use a longer and wider wheel base. nathan.
