Default question for any 250x owners....

Hi- I just recently bought a 250x that was a little beat up, and the bright person that owned it before me had removed the decompression cable. How bad is this for the quad? Or does it just make starting harder and not really necessary?
The real question I had was where does it go???? I know where it connects to on the engine, but I just dont know where the other end goes.
thanks
Will

It connects to that lever on the right side of the head and then the other end goes to the little lever on the right case by the kick starter. I would reconnect it and adjust it properly. I heard its not a good idea to disconnect it.

It doesnt hurt one bit to disconnect it. I took the one off of my X because no matter how I adjusted it the thing never worked. It's almost better because that way it cant stick and hold your valves open.

Mine works great but everyone still has a hard time starting it except me? I just bring it around to compression with the kick at about 45 degrees and jump on it like a fat kit on a smarty. Fires right up everytime! All the decompression does is make it easier to kick.....no damage.
