I'm gonna put 20" tires on my 300ex and to get back to stock gearing I need to go to a 14 tooth sprocket? that'll get me to stock gearing? what about the case saver? I heard you gotta shave it off a little to get a 14 tooth in there? is this true? let me know. thanks

I just removed the case saver. Then everything just bolted on. How do you like your works shocks? I was thinking of upgrading to a set.

so you gotta take it off? I really like my works shocks. they're way better than stock. I'd say about 3" more travel. I've bottomed it all the way to where the frame touched the ground and never felt any jolt to my hands. so i guess I need a skid plate since I have so much more travel. anyways for $300 they are great. later

I would not reccommend taking the case saver off i cracked a case before and it was expensive to replace. I had18" tires with a 15 tooth sprocket. I would replace the rear sprocket with a 37 tooth. This will allow u to run the stock teeth up front and keep the case saver. I am now rebuilding a TC405 ex i am near completion and have a 36 and 37 tooth rear sprocket. I am going to see what one performs better.

go here to see the 405ex i am building and other riding photos

In response to the TC405ex. I just got the frame back 2 weeks ago from the podwercoaters. The frame has the 250R shock tower setup. The front end has +2 burguard A arms, Lonestar steering stem w/pro taper handlebars, The rear is a Lonestar +2 swing arm, I am waiting for the new +2 axle from RPM, The axle carrier is a rad racing tapered bearing , Lone star axle lock nut, The rear shock is a Works ultra cross.
The motor was a 365 but now is a 405 with a lectron carb and modified stock throttle control which will open up the larger carb, I also has an oil cooler with steel braided lines, also steel braidied brake lines all around.
The tires are Kumoto groover radials on ITP 190s and the rears are grooved turf tamers on 8x8 beadlocks
I hope to have the bike done in another week or so. I am waiting for front shocks they are on order and will take about 4-6 months so that is why i have the stock 250r shocks on this bike.
Also next weekend i have to go to deleware to buy some vp fuel this bike runs on VP 14. I will post a thread when i have the bike complete. Hopefully i have no problems.
