Default 2003 Honda Foreman Help

I have a 2003 Honda Foreman S and when it is in neutral and I pull up on the shifter into 1st gear but dont let it down and give it gas it will move like the auto clutch isnt engaged, but when it warms up it and I pull up on the shifter and give it gas the clutch engages and it want move. I contacted the dealer and they say it is normal, but I have told by others that it is not normal. Hope this makes sense. I need to know before the warranty runs out. Thanks.

If you are holding up on the shifter with your foot the bike should not go anywhere. I hate holding the shifter up and giving it gas before I let it back down....it makes me cringe. As soon as you let the shifter back down it should engage first and the bike should move. My buddy always used to hold the shifter up and then dump it under throttle so his 450S would wheelie......hard on equipment if you ask me.

i agree don't hold up on your shifter - let it go back down...sounds like ur's is workin fine...let out of the gas and shift...if u hold up on the shifter its in neutral until it goes back down....try pulling up on it in 5th gear while u are riden u will see what i mean ...it will go into neutral from 5th by just pulling it up but u have to hold it to keep it in neutral like this...absolutly normal
