Default problems with my honda

hi i own a 2001 honda recon and just recently it has started acting up. everytime i give it full throttle like from no rpms to full it just sputters and comes close to dying. its not messing up on low rpms but once i start hitting the accelerator hard it messes up. any suggestions.

Did you leave the choke on? It may sound stupid, but it happens some times. I owned a 2001 recon before my 400EX, i never had that kind of problem unless I left my choke on. Don't overheat your quad like i did to mine! Annoying ticking sound all the time.

Something clogging the main jet in the carburator maybe?? The other jets work at low RPM's but the main kicks in at about 1/4 throtle. Just a guess. Pull the jet out and check it.

The problem you describe is (like what was suggested earlier) sounds like a rich bogg or a electrical problem.

There is only so many things that can create the rich fuel mix, and first to check out is that the air filter is clean, next clean out the carb, next you could confirm the throttle, any pump and slides are working properly. If these dont show the prob them go into the float levels and then start looking at the electrical.
