Default 2004 sportrax 90 fouled plug

bought a brand new trx 90 and let my kid ride for about 3 hours on it.the throttle stop was set from the dealer so that it had only about 1/8 throttle.began to run bad and was hard to start.removed spark plug and was all black and gummed up.replaced plug and adjusted out throttle to 3/4 throttle.fires up very easy, but after warm up it sputters when giving it full throttle.,it is in neutral when i checked it,not moving.have not test rode, but it doesnt seem right.is this normal?thanks for any help.

Did you remove the restrictor on the intake to the airbox??? With it on, it runs terrible and way rich??

Mine always have dark plugs, yet run fine anyway, even at 10,000 ft. Yours is a Calif. model, so it is detuned for smog. Turn in the air-fuel screw a little to make it a bit less cold blooded.

Pull off the seat. You will see the airbox lid, which is held on by four clips. Remove the lid and over the opening where the air comes in, look for a plastic cap with a small hole in it. Pull it off, and throw it away!! They put this on to decrease performance and tame the bike down while the kids are learning. It is unnecessary, seeing you are using the throtle limiter screw.

If you don't have one, then the guy who set the bike up did you a favor, and your problem is something else.
