Im thinking of buying a predator and sell my 300ex i dont know anything about them can anyone tell me good or bad things about them[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

the frames are cracking that is a norm on the pred. they are over weight and under powered other than that there ok. you would be better off posting in the polaris forum for more info

 

I posted here and on the predators to because i wanted to hear both sides of it from the honda riders to the polaris riders. I figure the honda guys have heard of the problems predators have but your info was helpful thanks pike

 

I like my pred.....but I've found it's weaknesses as well! Add a pipe and the tourqe is there! But it's a bit long in the swing arm...10 in. rims suck!, I cracked my frame, and it feels pretty heavy throwing it around in woods racing. I love it as a trail and fun quad...it slides awesome and great suspension, but I'm actually thinking of getting one of the new 450s (geez I hope the polaris guys don't read this!!) For the money, you can't beat the pred...you get a lot of quality items on it standard. But I would definately look at the '04 model, cuase they made some nice changes that will make it a better machine!

 

the preditor got sport atv of the year 2003. thats what ive read in the buyers guide. so they must be pretty descent stock

 

I don't know if the Pred is having frame problems or not. It's not a new thing for a quad to have frame problems. In the Oct issue of ATV Action it said the peak hp for the Pred is 41.8 compared to 35hp for the YFZ450. Although it did say that the Pred gains revs at a more leisurely rate. The Pred is a little heavy but it is a 500. (415lb) The 350 Warrior is around 400lbs. My biggest complaint about the Pred is the unfinished look of the plastic. The $6000. price tag sounds better than the quads at $6500. and above. The Raptors retail price has been reduced for 2004. If I was going to buy a new sport quad, I'd probably go with a Raptor. It's a little tall and has a some what narrow stance but that could be improved. The 660 Raptor just keeps looking better to me. (It has electric start and reverse and a 660 that weighs around 400lb.) The Kawa 700 is over 500lb.

 

The Predator is a great "value" for a quad. That's the best way to look at it. It has some great standard features for the $, as mentioned. It hauls with some minor mods like pipe, airbox etc. The suspension and PRO steeriing are excellent. The 03 frames are in question for some, but I haven't had a problem with mine. The biggest disadvantage is the weight - but really only where you compare it to the MX quads like the YFZ, and now TRX450R. With the other big bores (Raptor, DS) the predator weighs the same or less wet. I personnally really like mine - it fits me well. I'd suggest you test one out. If it fits you well, you're going to like it.

 

Thanks guys The predator im looking at was wrecked into a tree head on and bent up the a arms and trashed the plastic on the the front this kid was definetly hauling ??? if you know what i mean but to make a long story short he broke his arm and his collarbone and his mom said get rid of it now so hes selling it to me for $1000 which is unbelievable. But dont know if the frame is bent or not.

 

I forgot to mention, that the 300ex weights 377 lbs with about 17HP stock, vs. the Predator at 415 lbs / about 39HP stock. You're talking a huge leap in quad there.
