I run about a true 12.65:1 and got about 6mos before the head gasket gremlins were sneaking out. It has the stk honda studs and they were perfect with the 11:1 and saw no probs when doing the rebuild.
Do you know what your actual or real comp will be??????
The suggestion earlier of the clearence problems isnt just from the cam or comp but the entire set up. Run the stk oem thickness gaskets and a wiseco piston and you can install the 479 without any concern, or compression for that matter I have been hearing about a new web grind that is supposed to be a slightly smaller profile than the 479, and wondered if any of you guys have one etc.
The carillo rod would be excelent but if your going to tear into the cases may as well stroke it out too. Since you will be in there anyhow most of the cost is combined.
Have fun it sounds like a good set up.
