when the yfz's started hittin the dealers I went by my local dealer and asked him when (owner) they were gettin one....and he pointed at the yzf MX bike and said we have had them for years.....LoL
and I told him "no the quad with that motor on it" and he told me that yamaha didn't even make one.....

I went back up there 3 days l8er to get the part they orderd for me and there was one sittin on the show room floor.....LoL
seems like the owner would know stuff like that......being as he runs the place....it is him and his son+ a mechanic or two.......

 

i called the dealer to ask about my rear bearings on my 400ex cuz i was having trouble getting them out he said to beat on one and it would push the other out. i was like isnt the bearing carrier tapered he said no it is the same size as the bearing all the way thru. i hung the phone up laughing went home got the bearings out and almost went to the dealer with the carrier in hand to show him he was wrong but i had bearings to put back in so i went riding instead.

 

maybe you should complain about him or something....

 

I know the parts manager and some of the parts guys at my local ATV/dealer/parts house. their is about 10 parts guys and about 3 know a LITTLE about either street bikes or quads or dirtbikes. they never have someone that is generally familiar with more than one thing.

 

I don't have any stories about an ATV dealer, but I have a story about my Bombardier Dealer...well it was with a skidoo. We bought a used sled and my dad loaded it into our truck and put his feet on the back thingies to put weight on the back and the things that you put your feet on fell off. My dad got mad and the guy was like "no no that's not for that it's only for show, only for show". When we left they gave us a free "foot thingy".

 

yep been there. Most of these kids are young no experience in anything, everything is new, will work for nothing and that is what they get paid.They have no leadership or guidance from the people they work for.The reason they are there is because management is not willing to pay for some experienced help. Yes this is evident when you talk to the sales guy that thinks he is going to feed you some crap ( they believe that every customer is someone that never rode a bike or quad before) . avoid these guys , you will find that they will not give any worthwhile info. now as far as the kids go , with our help someday they will probably turn into a worthwhile citizen and maybe a partsperson that is willing to give good service. The main problem is that , managers, service managers , foremen , fellow workers are unable or unwilling to give guidance when needed.

 

i saw a few people going pretty cheap on ebay yesterday. lol. j/k

My cousin works at a dealer in the part dept. everyone there pretty much knows there stuff. Everyone either has a streetbike, MX bike or quad.

 

I know what you guys are talking about. I can't believe how dumb some of the people at the dealerships are. When I was getting my Z250 I knew more about it than the dealer did. He was telling me all kinds of stuff, and it was like dude what the heck are you talking about. He had absolutely no clue what he was talking about. Its pretty bad when somebody that had been "trained" has no clue what they are talking about and I can give you the specs. for every 2003 Suzuki ATV off of the top of my head and I'm only 15.
