I went to my local Honda/Suzu/Bomb dealer today looking for some brake pads and to ask them when they were gonna receive the 450r, well anyways i get there and im looking around at the new quads see the Baja X Sweet quad! and then go over to the Honda section they have a 2003 400ex with a DG bumper, pro armor nerfs, and a WB slip-on. I ask them ''how much you asking on that 400'' he says ''the stock ones are 4699 and that one is 5800 and I was like WTF r u serious?! those three parts dont add up to 1k! and he starts goin on about the quality and whatever...i go over to parts and ask them to look up the part #, well this one guy is looking in a street bike catalog repeatedly asking me what kind of bike it is, im like its a 250R he looks and says is there a letter in front of that and im like yea TRX he looks again and asks do you know if the R stands for recon wtf?! dude its a honda trx 250r and he looks again finally i got unpatient and told him maybe you should try looking in a atv catalog for atv brakes. He pulls one out and cant find brakes on the 250r listing and he says ''sprockets? are those like the brakes?'' WTF!! HOW THE F*CK DID YOU GET A JOB HERE?! out of frustration i turn around and walk away and forget to ask about the 450r. so yea i dont know how ppl like that get jobs there.

Some of those people must have transferred to our local dealer. I feel your pain. I was trying to get a slide return spring for my V and the kid at the shop told me I'd probably need a new carb....I knew he was wrong because I had looked up the part number on the kawi web site. I told him that my bike is still under warranty and I'll be damned...he found the spring....DUH

Im glad most of the people at our yamaha/polaris and honda dealers know what they are talking about, if they wound up not knowing what i was talking about, id push them out of the com chair and look for the part on the computer.

What a relief. The people at the dealer we deal with pretty much have everything under control. They know their product lines quite well and the parts people are great. Tell them what you need and they will tell you off the top of their head if they have it or not They even give me a discount and I have only bought main items. I did buy one floorboard and a trunk cover. Steadmans in Tooele Utah.
Parts people and salesman should at least be able to "fog a mirror" or have an IQ above room temperature.

It's a shame they aren't more informative. Sometimes people seek knowledge at their local atv shop with no avail. Like when I had gone to buy an oil filter for my Recon (at the time I didn't know that the Recon doesn't have a filter) and they sold me a filter. They should have known better. Well at least I was able to use the filter in my Foreman recently.
The odd thing about it is that they'd probably hire a college graduate with no atv experience before hiring somebody without college but actually lives & breathes atv's. (Counter or sales positions) I guess it depends on who is hiring.
