I don't know how piping works at all. I know that it allows more gas to enter the combustion chamber a lot quicker and leaves quicker, so does this make the engine rev higher? I'm asking the Honda guys...

 

No, not to sound like a smart a** , but your throttle thumb makes it rev higher. A pipe will simply let the motor run more effeciently and also allow it to breath.

Think of it this way - Put a straw in your mouth and try to breath through it, then take the straw out and breath. It's actually less of a strain and you will use less throttle/power to get the same job done.

what I meant by allowing the engine to rev higher is that if more air and gas can make it into the combustion chamber, I would think it would rev higher. So what's going to happen when your full throttle? Will you end up moving as fast as you woudl normally have without the pipe?

 

I know how to pipe,put it in and make sure you pull out..!

After your air/fuel mixture burns, you will obviously have some leftovers consisting of a few unburned hydrocarbons (fuel), carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide etc. These are all in gaseous form, and will be under a lot of pressure as the piston rushes them out of the cylinder and into the exhaust or header. They will also be hotter 'n Hades. (After all, this was the explosion of an air/fuel mixture, right?) Stock pipes are usually pretty restrictive to the flow of exhaust gas, and thus waste a lot of power because your piston has to push on the exhaust gasses pretty hard to get them out. So why does virtually every new quad sold have this problem? Because they are cheap and quiet.
Basically your quad is working harder with the stock exhaust than it would with an after market pipe.

The point is: a better fuel air mixture = more horsepower at the same rpm. Your engine will simply burn more efficiently with an after market pipe. Changing the jets along with a new filter also will help contribute to more power.

 

what kind of piping are you talking about???? your talking about letting in more air/fuel with an exhuast pipe? uhhh...someone clear this up for me
