lancer202 - you are F'ed up... where did you pull those numbers from? i bought my 03' KFX400 for 4,999 BRAND NEW... 8,000 is WAY over msrp... the kfx/z and the ex brand new both cost about the same... one is just better than the other so it doesnt make since to buy the ex when for the same price you can get a better one... i got my kfx cheaper than any of the EX's to... and yes i think this shoul dhave been posted in sport quad section because these hondas guys are very loyal and dont like to look at true facts... and i dont see how a 400ex with the same mods as a z400 the ex will come out winning..? please tlel me the mods that was on your quad and the z400 because i am very interested in that statement... it sounds more like the z400 rider didnt know what he was doing.

If like paying three times the money for fenders and stock parts.
If you like paying around $500.00 or more to rebuild a top end when the nickle lets go.
If you own a welder.
Get the Z400.
If you like low priced factory parts.
If you like to pay around $150.00 to rebuild a top end.
If you do not own a welder.
Get the 400EX

'04 400ex is faster than old ones and maybe the Z and the clones?? this is due to the new bigger carb on it this year...plus hpnda lowered the price on the 400ex to 5300 this year compared to 5700 for the Z and clones (the DVX is the same exact thing as kawi and zuki...suspension and all...its just like the kawi supposedly having a 0.1 gallon bigger gas tank....they wouldnt bother making them different, it would create higher cost per unit in production)

Ok, well being this kid is only 13, I don't think he should have either one, at most he should have a 300EX, either 400 would be a bit much, he's only 110lbs, would he even budge the suspension on one? But both are really nice quads, I love riding my cousins 400EX personally, but if I were to buy one it'd be the Kawasaki/Suzuki/Arctic Cat 400.
