honda shipping

I've found a killer deal on a 03 Rancher. The seller is going to pay for the shipping via ups air cargo. Has anybody ever done this before? Is there any way I can test the bike before I pay for it? The bike is coming from the Netherlands, if that helps. Looking for some advice. Thanks

Please don't tell me you are gonna send money before he sends the atv. If so, you will never see the atv IMO. If something sounds too good too be true, then 99% of the time it is. Tell him too send it too you and you will try it out and then send the cash.

No, I'm not going to pay for it before I get it. I was just wondering if anybody new of a way I could have it shipped to a place and check it out then pay them. He just e-mailed me and he said we could third party. I guess he still knows somebody here in the states and will send it to them. thanks

Sesame,
Let me give you a piece of advice....walk away from that deal...no...run....
Almost every ATV sale involving another Country is a rip-off scam. It doesn't matter if you are selling the ATV or buying it...if another Country is involved be very, very wary. Its just not worth it when you can deal local within the US without much risk.

Not sure about a carrier.....but don't let him get any cash from you before you actually can see and touch the atv. Was the ad on EBAY? I bet his "3rd party" is a go between for him too cover his tracks. Scammers are taking over there! Keep us updated as too what happens bro.

Thanks for the advice guys. I found the atv on traderonline. What is the worst that could happen? I won't pay any money until I see and touch it. I guess the only thing I would be out is the drive to wherever it is.

Nobody is going to ship a quad within locations of the US to let you look at it to decide if you want it let alone send it here from another country. You might go to check it out but I promise you it won't be there. Silly Rabbit...

Run like hell!
If you decide to use a third party, use a reputable escrow service of YOUR CHOOSING!!! What these scammers do is make you feel all warm and fuzzy by using their choice for an escrow service. What you don't know is that the escrow service itself is a scam.
Do your homework first! (or run like hell as previously suggested)

If it is such a good deal, why doesn't somebody in the Netherlands buy it?
UPS Air freight from the Netherlands?..come on.
Look at the UPS web site. The maximum weight is 150lbs and the maximum length and girth is 130 inches. The ATV will weigh 600 lbs and the girth will be almost 300 inches. If it met the UPS max: 150lbs and 130 inch girth the freight would be $700.00
It's a scam.
