stevie, according to law your not even old enough to drive a 300ex, much less a 500,but ill give you credit since i have ridden since i was 7yrs old, I like the way you think, It is all just for fun. All of the people ride well because they are comfortable with what they have. For one your 500 Scrambler shouldnt even be compared with the EX but they brought it on themselves by starting this post. You and I know that sheer power and muddy trails are yours as well as wide open drags. But dont knock any one for wanting a Raptor, because this is an open class racer and is designated as 660"R" I have ordered one because i plan on running drags and flat track... and in this case mine is faster than yourz is the only point, but I hope that this will prove to be a good cross country and trail bike. Good luck racing the ex's and warriors.

The guy with the Scrambler 500 sounds like some guys I ride with. They just hang out on the drag strip with their Banshees because that's all they are good for. I wouldn't think that would be a lot of fun myself, I like getting back IN the trails & woods. I do like racing too though They just like to race all the time. I love it when the guy on the 250R ATC whoops them though! Each quad has it pluses & minuses. The Scrambler 500's plus is it is fast in a straight line explain that to they guy & then ask him to follow you on the most narrow, tight trails you can find. Then he'll see one of the 300EX's pluses

Cool, that higher compression piston needs that cam and carb to make a real difference. Also, don't forget an oil cooler.. more power, more heat. By the way, a modified 300ex (cam, carb, piston, exhaust,CDI mod,oil cooler) will beat a stock 400ex in a drag race. And with the smaller chassis dimensions it is a great technical (woods, tight desert trails, rocky paths) and competent racer (with better shocks with 2" or more travel) ...maybe that's why people still like their 300ex's.

couldnt be said any better . I want a cam bad, but i need to buy rocker arms with it, and those will run me around 300 bucks with the whole package (cam, rockers, valve springs), and i want a carb which will run me about 100 off the net..so...when i get 400 i will buy it all . Right now, with the setup i have, do you think my 300ex would outperform a 400ex on the trail? tighter trail?
