440: first ride..
#1
well, i finally broke in the new 440, i Have a weisco 11:1, hot cams stg 2 and a k&n filter. I am a little unimpresssed with the power gains, however, keep in mind that i am running the stock pipe. I ended up going with the stock pilot, d/j needle on the 3rd clip and a d/j main at 160. The motor does pull harder with no bogs or hesitations, but like i said, i expected more. I am wondering if i could jet a little leaner?I havent done a plug check yet either. The motor ran unusually cool compared to the horror stories i have heard from 440's overheating, and i am on the stock oil system/cooler. What little tricks could i do to eek a little more out of the engine without getting a new pipe?

HA2 is right, if it restricts the stock motor, imagine what it does when you pump it up.........I think there is a mod I have seen for a stock pipe, sorry I don't know where, but I imagine you could get it from that other site that deals w/ honda ex's.
Why no pipe? Money or Noise? if its money look into the above, if its noise look up MBRP.

First thing to do is to pipe it so it has less restriction. I would try running a 155 main, thats what i run and mine never has over heated. The temperature where ever your from can make a big difference on the jetting.
