Default 440EX CAM, STAGE 1 OR 2?

i won an auction on ebay for a stage 1 cam but they sent me a stage 2, i want a good all around cam, i dont race, mainly trickriding and fast trailriding but sometimes i go slow, which cam would offer good performance but wont hurt the reliability and life of the engine? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Default 440EX CAM, STAGE 1 OR 2?

I would guess the stage 1 would be easier on the motor but I really don't know too much about it. I actually put a cam from an xr650 in my 440ex. My mechanic reccomended it and I wasn't so sure but it works great

Just posted about this in another thread.

Simply put you got lucky because you would need the stage2 for the 440.

You can contact hotcams direct and get their take on this but basically stage1=stk bore basic mods stage2=big bores major mods.

There are some very big differences between the many cams avail for this engine and all will perform diff with diff set ups. A lot of people dont use their quads for drag racing or mx and would need a different cam than those who do etc.

Do some research on cams (any engine etc) and you will find that there is a relationship between the grind of the lobes and how it performs with certain mods etc. due to the different amounts of lift and duration and other dimensions that affect how much and when the valves open and close and how quickly.

I am currently running the stage2 and though not exactly what I wanted (my engine desires more lift) its much better performing than the stage1 I had originally for my set up.

Cam selection can deff be tricky so allways try to get as much info as possible when looking for a cam.
