Default 400 EX starting problems

For some reason, I always have a tough time starting my 400ex. It is brand new and doesn't even have five tanks thru it. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. Just seems to be a cold blooded bitch, till I get her warmed up.

What do you mean go up on the pilot jet? Where is the pilot jet? Sorry for being ignorant.

I find choking it, turning the starter without touching the throttle works best for mine. I also found that it starts easier after I opened the airbox up and installed a Dynojet kit.

Those air jets really work huh? That is how I always start mine, 1/2 choke no throttle, then when it fires up, I have to keep the throttle running.

Yeah, it sounds a little lean to me, mine was that way after re-jet ehaust and filter were added. We did my dads and went a littlt richer with the mix and it fires up instantly. Chaged mine like was stated above, fires up no prob!

Oh yea once it is running, I have to keep some throttle on to keep it running until it is warmed up too.

I have the same problem with mine. I have to put on the choke and no throttle until it starts. Then hold the throttle till it warms up. After that first start it is fine.
