Yamaha Reliabilty 2nd to None? NOT
#21
30 years experience or one year experience, it doesn't take much experience to realize that Honda is the most reliable. When you go for a ride and you see other brands braking down and the Hondas are still standing strong, thats all the experience it takes. As for my age, what does it matter, my opinion is still valid whether I'm a ten year old child or a 65 year old man.
As for Yamaha, I've owned one it was great, but Honda is most reliable. I'm not cutting Yamaha, I thought the ad was lame.

I'm sure Selector will have something to say on topic.
Now I am not at all brand loyal but I know that my dad owns a stock 1985 200x, he is the first owner and the only maintenance it has ever recieved is a new filter and some oil changes. My 1987 quadsport 230 on the other hand is the largest POS ever made! I cant even take a solid ride w/o something else breaking(I will be selling it so if anyone wants a parts bike let me know). I also know whenever I call my friend to go riding the usual response is "I cant my warrior's broken again."

There's lemons in every brand.
My Honda Accord is broken down again, not sure what this time .. seems to be the battery. No biggie. But this car (98 Accord EX) has given me the most problems of any car I've ever owned.
Wheel bearings, swaybar bushings, links, starting motor, distributor cap and rotor button .. all occured under 70k miles, but Honda went the distance for me pretty well. I still like the car and don't think it's a POS, but it hasn't been the most reliable car I've ever owned. That award would have to go to my 96 Integra. Sweet machine
My Warrior hasn't given me a single hiccup yet, and god willing will continue to run perfectly until I sell it or trade it for something newer/better.

I believe Yamaha builds an excellent ATV. Great features and very reliable. Every manufacture builds good ones and they all let a bad one slip out once in a while. What do they do when a bad one slips out, do they stand behind it? 01 Raptor trans, heat kits for the Grizz and now the axles. Yamaha took care of the ones that broke while under their warranty period, but once out of warranty you are on your own. Yamaha knows they are problems because the corrected them in late production. I like Yamaha but question the manufacture. So far, no Yamahas in my garage. Just my own opinion.

another thing to look at.
I saw a report somewhere that there some 700,000 ATV's sold last year. Take an avagarge decrease over the last 10 years that would put about 6 Million ATV's in the market from 94'. This board has 38000 memeber, if every member owned 1 bike that would make up 1% of all ATV's out there. Granted most members own several, but also many member are 10 and don't own any (even though they say they do) that would still put the total of this board to less then 5% of all ATV's in the market.
I have been riding 2,3&4 wheelers for 24 years, and until 2 years ago I didn't even know these boards existed.
There are defently some bad apples in every brand, but in a whole all these manufacturs make very good products or they would be out of buisness.

Well,
Unless one can prove that the claim Yamaha is making is untrue, then the commercial is not lame. Now, whether the statement is true will depend apon the variables selected for the test. Each person who has commented might have different criteria for the test. If we could all agree on the criteria and get the data we needed, we could come to some conclusion that we all could live with. But the next guy who comes along might disagree because he didnt like criteria.....hence, this is neverending....kinda like one of those first word in you head posts.....

Face it, any atv manufacturer can lay claim to being second to none. One member has owned more than one brand of atv, one lasted forever, the other was a pile of junk. Another guy had the same brand as the afrementioned piece of junk, but never had a single problem with it. And so on.
Maybe there is some kind of consumer advocate group out there willing to spend billions to see who exactly can promote their atvs as "second to none"
