I don't think the trick these days is to buy the "best" ATV, but rather buy the ATV "best" suited for what your need and/or wants. Name one 2004 ATV that is litterally a piece of junk or is of very low quality. None.

ATV's are TOO much fun!!!!

I owned both Yamaha and Honda atvs, and I think Honda makes a great bike! But Yamaha is just as great! I now own only Yamaha. Thats what I feel confident riding. Thats the way everyone should feel about the atv they ride, regardless of make.

Well Mr Hondasbestonearth or what ever you call yourself... I beg to differ with you about age mattering... You see, someone who has been around the block a few times and can remember what the original ATV's were like (Honda's three wheeler, no suspension etc, and the Ruppster, Odessy and pilot etc).. well, I think I can recognise what works and what doesn't. You see I have both Hondas and Yamahas in my stable. Each has a specific reason for being purchased, all have proven just as reliable as the others.. now as for the age thing.. well like I said, someone with a bit more information between the ears would not waste the brain cells it took to type that crap in the first place.

Now I hate to body slam anyone, and I sure hope you heal easily, but frankly son, your slip.. er..I mean your age or lack thereof is showing....

Now why not let me go back to sipping my soup while the teeth are soaking, and dreaming of what it was like to be a kid again... Nah, I wouldn't want to do that all over again... as us old timers like to say... "Stupid HURTS"

Yamaha and Honda are two great companies that have been building great, reliable quads for years. But, the Grizzly really killed Yamaha...what were they thinking?
The reason I have a Honda is because that's what I started out with and none of them have given us a single problem.

Dragginbutt,
I'll get to my point. I have enough experience to realise that the Hondas compared to the Yamahas of today are more reliable to a certain degree. I am not absolute on what they were like in the 70's. It's not just a coincidence that most Honda's hold up better than most other brand mtorcycles/ ATVs. If you have a lot of experience, in some cases, it provides much better information. I feel in this case, one doesn't need so much experience to see the reliablity difference. I have about 10 years experience, and have seen some times, enough evidence in one ride to show the reliability difference between machines.

If you think this is a stupid thread, then read elsewhere. I started this thread because I wanted to hear what people thought, if this thread was no good, no one would reply.

NO, I think you started the thread to bash other makes and justify your purchase of a Honda in your own mind. The point is, there are so many variables involved that neither point can be proved or disproved. This leaves the purely subjective argument, and without facts or figures to support either side, the point is moot.

If it gives you some pleasure to bash one make or another... so be it... Most of us that have a few years behind us know not to even suggest such a premise... and many of us have had good experiences with Yamaha, and frankly don't care what you have to say. But I do support your right to say it.

You are right.. you win... I can't change your mind... so I think I am going to go out and ride one of my many totally reliable Yamahas that I have had for many enjoyable years... and out of respect to you, I will leave the Honda behind this trip, so I don't have anything break down and ruin a perfect reliability record... NOT

No wait... it is time to take my medication and lay down for a nap... and dream of a perfect world where nothing breaks and you never run out of gas... and everyone rides the same machine.
