Clean out the carburetor and clean or replace your air filter, that is usually the best place to start. Also check your spark plug and see what color the electrode is. If its tan its running perfect, if its black its too rich and if its white its running too lean.

One more thing to check.. fuel filters and if the tank is metal, take a look inside to see if it has rusted. Also, some petcocks have a screen in them... you might have some junk in there. My guess would be a rebuilt carb is in order
