Flippin' Recon brakes!!
Alright the brakes on my 97 Recon 250 are starting to get on my nerves... I try and try and try to bleed them and pressure them up but no pressure. I heard other guys are having problems with their 250's brakes as well, anybody have this problem.?

I have an 01 Recon, the front brakes are worthless. Bleeding them and adjusting does nothing. Thank god the back brakes work fine. I've wondered if different hydraulic lines would help or maybe a different pad.....maybe rebuild the wheel cylinder... Heck who knows. I've heard its a really common issue though.

Make sure your wheel bearings are good. Use Ferodo brake shoes they have a lot of metal in them. DO NOT break the bleeders lose. Do one side at a time leave the brake drum on the other side that you are working on. With the shoes off and the reservoir cap off pump the handle a few times to get the brake piston to come out. Be careful not to pop the piston out of the cylinder. Then compress the piston back in with a pair of large channel locks. Watch the reservoir for air bubbles keep repeating the process till there are no more bubbles then do the same with the other side. Sand or sand blast the glaze off the inside of the drum and you will have very good brakes.

This might sound dumb,I had the same trouble with mine. All you need to do is pull the drums off and give the whole thing a good cleaning. The recon drum seal don`t work at all. If you go in water or mud this will keep doing it over nad over.I have not found a way to stop this YET.
