Honda 450R review
1986atc250r:i'm sure Kory made those comments with his deal for his new TRX in front of him.
Yeah, I'm sure Honda's giving him a TRX.... They've got a factory rider, don't expect them to support anyone else.
In fact, Kory's hoping for a deal with Yamaha, since they are the only real player that hasn't hired one yet.
Anyone of you that think either one of these quads is going to be dominant over the other is dilusional. They are very much alike, each will have certain advantages of it's own, each will have downfalls of it's own - fortunately, like I said before, they are so similar that these differences will be minor, especially when we are used to comparing the advantages of a 250R to those of say, a Raptor.
Anyhow....
Here's a review with a little more meat....

Honda 450R review
All these people that were cutting the 450r down have suddenly dissappeared with the arrival of these reviews. All they had to talk aboutbefore was how much better the yfz was, and now it appears so far that they are both very competitive with each other. It sounds good to hear that the 450r isn't as bad as most people said, actually, it's way better than most people said. I want more reviews!

Honda 450R review
I'm 6-5. I got long legs. More legroom, that's good news for me. Still bummed about the lack of E-start. Local guy has put E-start on CRF desert bikes so he is ready to do my TRX when it comes in. The seat has to be better than the YFZ, my last KTM had a better seat than the YFZ and it was made of granite, I believe.
It will probably end up a wash on the MX tracks tween the YFZ and TRX [ when both are typically modded ] but there will end up being more Honda's, same as the CRF vs. the YZF. Cross Country / GNCC will be a wave of red with or without E-start upgrades. Plus so many racers have been racing TRX's [250R or 400EX] and trust Honda quality regardless if it really exists or not. [I think it does just for the record]
BTW, the 04 CRF has added a few hp which MXA says equalizes the power outputs of the 2 mx bikes. The YZF now does nothing better than the CRF. What's gonna happen when you slap the 04 CRF jug on the 450R? Answer: A 480cc monster.
Now if Honda would only make a 650ex so I could go duning, since I doubt I will ever see the Aprilia 450 twin in a quad.

Now what is the point of the 400ex? I think Honda should add a reverse gear onto that Quad!

I have thought the of same idea, but if they add reverse to the 400 do you think they will drop the 300ex

I know some of us have talked about this on the forum here. Although I doubt Honda will ever think of this, they'll continue manufacturing the 400ex as the intro quad to the 450R or soemthing like that anyways...
If they do add the reverse gear, then I would skip the 300ex and never consider it. Although it's a good quad for beginners (I've never driven one, but I know that it is for a fact a good beginner quad), the 250ex is a good one as well. This is what I would do if I were Honda:
1.Add a reverse gear to the 400ex immediately, starting with the 2004 models they are releasing at the moment.
2.Allow the 300ex one more year until it is scrapped.
3.Manufacture the 250ex and increase it's displacement to 250cc right on. Keep it an auto clutch;I don't know what I would do with the shaft drive, either keep it or give it a chain drive.
That's all at the moment, what do you guys think?
