I know heated hand grips are out there the kind you plug into the 12v socket but I can't find them. Anyone know where they can be found on the web?

You really have two main options:

HotGrips

or

RockyMountainATV

I used the HotGrips but didn't really like them because they are too hard. If you get one of the medium hard compounds then they have a larger diameter.

The ones sold by Rocky will fit under standard rubber grips. I use this type on all my quads. Cabela's have this style too and so does the Moose catalog. Rocky sells them for 19.95.

Is it wise to take grips off for the summer , or just leave them on year round????
Are they as stong as regular grips????

You can leave either style on year round. I am going on my 3rd winter season and mine are still working.

I like the thinner ones that mount to the bars with self-sticking glue. I use Oury grips over them because I like the really soft rubber.

If I had a 4X4 and plowed a lot of snow, I would probably go with the HotGrips. They do get warmer.

Once the HotGrips are on, they do not come off. You mount them using JB Weld. You really can't get the other ones off either. Your best option would be two sets of bars with wire disconnects.
