Default Cam set-up

Ok. I got a stage 1 hot cam for my 400ex. I'm going to be running a JE 11:1 piston (416cc). Head hasn't been milled. Now, a couple of questions. Should I worry about checking for valve to piston clearance? I can't run the factory decompression assembly on the new cam, do I really need it? Thanks in advance.

you wont have to worry about the valve to piston clearance, that has already been considered in the machining of the cam. the decompression mechanisn helps with startup bu now you will most likely have to use the choke.
