The little 250 is a nice machine!! It was derived from the Recon, so it is pretty good for semi-technical trail riding. It is nice for stream crossings because it has shaft drive, and also has pretty good ground clearance. It isn't any powerhouse, but it will pull a 160 lbs. just fine. Put an K&N and aftermarket pipe on it (I have FMF MegaMaxII), and the little engine will perk up nicely. I would swap out the ballooney tires for some Holeshots or something.

250ex is a good trail bike, corners well, suspension is great, not fast, but on trails you don't need 65 mph. 5 foot 10 is about the limit on height for the 250ex without being cramped, I am 5 foot 8 and it's perfect for me. All around top 10 bike in my opnion.

When i first got my 250EX it seemed like the best thing ever, and don't get me arong they are good begginer quads and can still be fun. The thing is that i grew out of mine kinda fast and it's not even that fun any more because it seems like it's slow and the suspension doesn't seem that good anymore. The 250EX is a very reliable machine and it is pretty low maintinece too, perfect for a begginer. I am in great need of a sportier quad, like a new 450R. Get it to start off on but i guarentee you that if you ride a lot you will be wanting something faster and better handling. Good luck

I am not even close to sick of my 250 ex yet. It's a fun ride, and you can't beat the price for perfomance. If you have the cash, get a 300 ex or 400ex, or if you have 7000 bucks in your sock drawer get a 450r, but if you don't feel right about spending as much on a quad as you would on a nice used car, a 250ex is perfect.

Ours is great. Haven't had any problems with it yet. Going to ride some awesome trails in Baldwin this friday with it. Could use some better shocks for jumping.
