Default 250r frame question

i have an 86 250r with the steel frame, for mx - do you think it would be
worth going to an 87-89 frame(aluminum)? I don't have the money
do go out and buy an after market setup like laegers or something...
also with that, are my fenders etc going to fit an 87-89 frame?

Default 250r frame question

all frames 86-89 are basically the same except for different front and rear motor mounts. 88-89 had a -1" aluminum rear swingarm.

Default 250r frame question

all frames are steel 86-89. Only difference is a steel swingarm on a 86-87 and an aluminum -1 swingarm on the 88-89.

Your front fenders will fit, but your rear plastic and seat wont work. You'll have to modify it. Seat latches are also different

Default 250r frame question

defintly keep your 86 frame. Those were the most steardy for mx. if you study each frame closly you can see that the 86 has some more to it. By the way if you stay with the 86 frame then you wont be able to just swich swing arms. On the 86 frame the rear motor mount is built on the swing arm so if you get any other year swingarm then youl have to soem how make a home made mount
