Hey guys. My question today is that I'm wondering if there were any problems with the '99 400ex...considering it was the first production model. I found a good one for $4500 Canadian and it's even got an FMF pipe on it!

My friend has a 99, it has alot of problems I haven't seen on our 01 or 00. He has gone thru batteries, brakes and other things. It could be a fluke but I have my doubts. You could not give me a 99 400ex.

On my 99 the only problems I have had were,, Clutch pin broke, and my transmission is messed up now. WHen I had the clutch pin replaced I had the some motor worked done, since the cylinder and rings were getting worn. THe transmission just happend about a month ago.
For brakes, it depends on how you ride and how much you use them. I did have my starter solenoid go out. I have seen a few around here have that problem, mostly due to the weather and no storage for their bikes. I still have the same battery.

The only problem that the 99 had was that a few people were breaking the swingarm. The rest of the quad was good. If it is not broken by now it is good. If you do alot of jumping you will break or crack the frame. But, all quads will do that from heavy wear. My 99 has had nothing go wrong other than normal wear and tear.
