Pipe Glowing Red
Hi, I was wondering about that. I just rode my 300ex about 2 hours ago in the snow making it rev a lot. It's a 94 with the mods below. It was about -10 celsius degrees outside. It was revving a lot and a lot in the deep snow . The exhaust them became red. A warrior was with me and it didn't happen. He's stock and he's still having is summer's jets in his. I just rejetted mine earlier today. I was jetted for about 15 celsius degrees with a 124 dynojet. When the exhaust was glowing, there was a 128 in it. I just added a 130.
Thanks a lot

thats probably normal as long as it doesn't seem to run lean. let any fourstroke idle for a bit in the dark and the headpipe will probably start to glow at the head. and if you're working it hard in the snow with little airflow, then you may see it then too. i had a wolverine that was stock and jetted correctly that would do it, my yz does it. you even went richer on the main so if anything your jetting is richer.

hold on here. you might not be lean on the mainjet. take your bike out and floor it though all of the gears. it is best to do this at night so youcan see the headers glow. just floor it all the way though the gears, and have someone look at your headers when it is pinned. if it glows at full throttle, your probally lean on the mainjet. however, you could be lean on the fuel skrew/pilot jet or the needle. if its glows at idle, turn your fuel skrew out some. if they glow at 1/8 throttle to 3/4 throttle, move the clip on the needle down one position.
