If it where me no way would I trade a 250r i bought new like you and have less than 5 hours on for any Dale. Dale's are excellent machines and most reliability problems have been resolved but only two words can describe what you have "A LEGEND"

Get a Dale if you want somthing unique and FAST but DO NOT trade your R for it.

I don't think he has an R with 5 original hours but an R with 5 hours after rebuild. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't be afraid to jump 25 years in technology. I don't think you will regret it.

wrong, less than 5 hrs from new! I bought in 1987 from sleger's honda 3495, I did not like the way it handled and had a chance to race suzuki quads instead. so i pushed it into my dads garage and left it there. i stored it properly and have always kept it nice because i knew it was worth some $. I wound up also having a 90 lt 500 in the same shape as i gave up racing in 90 and sold that a year or so ago along with my as new 85 atc 250r. I raced in district 7 i started with kawasaki tecates and got the hondas so i could compete on some of the courses that the kawasakis were not good at(mx) I can email pictures of it when i dig the snow from my shed doors(btw i am an old fart(32) not a teenager)

Wow, well I would reconsider what your R is worth then.

For riding something though ... I don't know if I'd keep it.

that is the thing, i have had it forever, i never ride it. I was thinking it was time for a change. I always buy my bikes new and ride them a little and move on to a car or something(i have a 98 cr125 maybe 25 hrs, 99 cr250 maybe 40hrs and a 03 ttr 125le (wife rode 1 time) i was thinking the cannondales were pretty cool machines and with the fuel injection they should run like no other machine, i figured that the 250r should be worth 5000(to give you an idea about how picky i am , i bought a complete set of maier plastic. seat and a dg bumper to keep the original stuff from getting messed up wife used to "bump into it occasionally")

I'd definitely see what the market looked like for your 250R . It is a collectors item with 5 hours on it.

The Cannondale definitely is cool and unique.

Just to answer one of your questions, YES YOU ARE CRAZY TO WANT TO SELL A NEAR MINT CONDITION 'R'! Only condition in which you should sell it is if you are selling it to me!

Seriously, I too have heard of too many problems with the c dales. I bet they are fast though. What you have is a very very special machine which should be treated like gold. I'd keep it.

a perfect R is worth more then gold. You'd be down right stupid to get rid of it for any factory bike. Find the right guy, and you'll get 8-10k for that honda
