i heard a lot of bad things about the cannondales, (even you said bad i think) i live near you btw and was gonna trade it in at pompton honda, i could have gotten one straight up trade, my choice of the 3(or 4) they had about 2 months ago but i wasn't sure it was a good deal for me. they offered me 4500 for my r, but i turned it down(btw it is showroom, still has hairs on the tires) i like that they are 4 stroke and have electric start and should be pretty fast and they are new, that was the big thing

been checking both out already, some people love em and some dispise them. I figure they are really pretty cool machines, but i was just concerned about resale(250r will always be worth some $) and the reliability. anyone ride both stock? how do they compare?

Stock a 250r is lame, nobody rides them stock.
I don't know who despises their Cannondale. I really like mine. They are YFZ quick if that gives you any perspective.
A new Cannibal with all updates is worth about the $4500 they were going to give you. Resale will probly be around 4k for a while, might even go up some with ATK and Dinli both putting similar quads out soon.
A Cannondale is a race machine, and it will require maintenence, high quality fuel and synthetic oil only.
With all updates a Cannondale should be reliable. The only other thing that can/should be done on an 03 is to get your crank balanced. A quality control issue left some of them unbalanced which can cause problems.
If you want the highest performance quad for your $$$ the Cannondale is the only way to go right now, IMO. 2-3k cheaper than a new YFZ.

it looks as good to me now as it did when i got it in 1987. it is as fast as my 99 cr250 and has never given any problems, (alright 5 hrs ) but it fires on the first or second kick every time. it is definetly faster than my friends raptor (but slower than my lt500 and tecate)
