lt500 vs 450r

quadzilla is one of the fastest production quads made ( i know theyre not made anymore so dont try to correct me, when it was in production) and i think it would take most quads now a days, but they dont run good if they havent been restored and i could imagine and mx zilla in my point of view they really werent made for it but im prolly gonna get some people telling me they are, if they are very well restored

440ex, displacement doesnt mean sh*t. IF your talking modified bikes in drag racing ill assure you the 450 will be faster then the 500. The 450 has so much room for improvement inside of it while the LT500 is more or less just a paperweight in the drag racing world. The suzuki wont hold a candle to the honda. And thats in any catagory.

I know that my bored .050" over lt250R will do 87mph and I have beat Raptors and 400ex's with it as well as a piped banshee. But the new 450 YFZ and 450R bikes are gonna be tough in a straight line to beat. They have wicked torque through all the gears from what I hear but haven't had a chance to go up against one of them. Will have to wait until spring to play with them. On a track, I know they would smoke me, the lt250R is sketchy to ride on the track.

oh yeah i think the yfz and the 450r would stand a chance agaisnt the zilla, until they said GO.. then their chance would go out the window.. no way the yfz or 450r would win or any other stock quad would win agaisnt the zilla.

sounds pretty biased to me. You're saying that a 13 year old bike setup back in the day will take a brand new high tech 4-stroke that was designed to be on the track. LOL keep dreaming pal. You're stock lt500 will get beaten over and over again on a mx track against any of the new thumpers

I've seen zilla's run, i'm not impressed with them at all. If the YZ and TRX are any thing like the DS650, it will be one FAST FAST bike! I remember seeing a ds with a pipe drag racing a fully built LRD 330r that would get smoked by the ds. I also remember last time I went to sandlake a YZ450 beating every one up the hill (250's, banshee's, etc..) with stock knobbies on. Once i get enough money i'm going to get a new four stroke, one.. Lots of torque (Im a big guy and I need it), and second is because of the handling of these new quads are better than any thing else.

Hello again speed racers, after reading the current replies in regards to the new YFZ and TRX450R versus the lt500, I thought I would duplicate my message I typed earlier for the people who have not read it yet.
"Hello speed racers, Honda and Yamaha built there quads (TRX450R & YFZ 450) to perform and be competitive on the Mx track and cross country racing versus a drag strip. Don't get me wrong, the TRX450R and the YFZ 450 will be and are very fast quads, but the powerplant was built to focus on low end torque and mid range hit, with plenty of power to tap in on the top end. Also a nice feature from the YFZ and I am sure also the 450r, the crank is very light which allows it to rev faster than any other 4 stroke on the market (duplicating the revs of a 2 stroke, not quite thou, but close). You can take almost any quad and make it go 100mph if you change the gearing and rear tire sizes, top speed should not be so much of a concern as intended. Its how quick can you get to top speed using the power and torque the motor dishes out. Also with respect to the power department (horsepower and torque), handling and reliability is as important, if not the most important.
2 Strokes rev very fast because they have less moving parts producing the power output. The lt500 has lots of top end, as well as most 2 strokes. They are meant to be ridden wide open, that's the only way 2 strokes run well. 2 strokes have no low end torque, that's just in the nature of the beast, yes you can port and polish to help improve the low and mid range, but in stock form, there is lots of room for improvement in that respect.
So to answer your question, in my opinion, in stock form, the lt500 would probably win a drag race, but would not stand a chance on the track or trail against the TRX450R or the YFZ450 (WITH EXPERIENCED RIDERS BEHIND THE BARS).
Have a good day, and HURRY UP HONDA, we have waited long enough, release that beast will ya. "
