Default 15 hours on new quad at delivery?

My dealer tried to deliver new 03 Foreman 450 es today. I looked at the quad last night and there was 3 miles on it. A little high I thought. I didn't check the hours last night because I didn't know how. When the dealer showed up today I looked at the hours on the machine and it said 14.9 hours. I hit the roof. I told the delevery guy to take it back right away. He called his boss and he spoke to me and said the hours were from driving it out front of the dealership everyday and then putting it back in at night. (They keep the quads outside during business hours.) I told him the first service was at 20 hours and he said he would pick up the tab for that or get me a new one in the crate. I went to the dealer an hour later and got my deposit refunded because I was so mad I couldn't get anything done at work. I am cooled down now and don't know if I should get the one in the crate. (I got a killer deal that I won't get anywhere else.)

If he offers you the same deal for one out of the crate then go back and get it................

Sounds like they let it idle for long periods when moving it,I'd be wary. Dont think idling hours are good on a new motor. Gets to hot, and doesn't seat valves and rings right. Make them give you extended warr. if you buy that one.

Above post is right. Idling is not a good way to break the motor in. Over 14 hrs. and only 3 miles! Lots of Idling! Good move on returning it! jeff

That, my friend, is a USED quad. Idling is very hard on a new motor, especially the cam. The owners manual even says to very the rpms during break in. I just bought a new Vinson, and it had .1 miles on it, and no hours.

If he is offering the same deal on a crated quad, and you know you can't beat it elsewhere, I'd go for it.
