foreman 450 tire size
#1
I am picking up a new 2003 450 Foreman tommorow. I would like to get the ITP c-series wheels for it. I am considering just getting them mounted with the mud lite or 589 tires. As this might be a good time to upgrade tire diameter what is the largest size that will allow clearence? Also does the stock 450 have enuff guts to drive them? The only perf mods I see doing down the road are maybe a pipe and K&N.
I am in northern Pa and will be riding mostly on wooded trails. Snow and mushy terrain traction a must. Any advice is appreciated

You can fit 27x12 in the rear and 27x9 in the front with no troubles or clearance issues on stock suspension on stock wheels or aftermarket. I have these in Blackwater XT's on my '98 and it has lots of power to drive them, even in deep mud.

I ran 26" GBC Dirt Devil XTs on my 450S Foreman. Very tough (6 ply), great all-around tire for woods, rocks, mud, sand and even snow. No clearance problems on stock rims, the quad had tons of torque to turn those donuts. Have fun.

Guy I ride with has 26" Mudlites with the ITP C-Series rims and it rides and goes as good as anything I've seen with plenty of power...tires stick out a lil bit past the fenders though...if that is a concern

I have been considering purchasing either 589's or mudlites. Originally, I was going to go with 26's on the stock rims. Then I noticed that the 589 27's come in a 27x11-12 for the rear instead of a 26x12-12. The weight is comparable to the 26's. Mudlites 26's and 27's both come in the 12-12's. I'd rather keep the rear tire narrower without a lift. I wouldn't go any larger than the 27's without the lift.
