Lookin to install an FMF megamax exhaust with head pipe on my son's 300ex. Right now he has a Cobra system, but he damaged it this weekend. Is it worth the cash to go with the FMF or should I stay with another Cobra? There have been no engine mods done to it. Any input will be appreciated

 

i wold definately not install another cobra.I think cobras are crap.I have a white brothers e-series and headpipe and it is great.Ive heard Pro-Circuit and Yoshimura are great exhaust too.Or you can go with an engine builder like curtis sparks or duncan

 

I have the MegaMax II on my utilities, but I don't think I would run one on a sport bike. What the little 300 needs more than anything is a HEADER. I had an FMF PowerCore 4 on ours (came with a header!) and a K&N, and it was a pretty peppy little bike.

 

according to the local Suzuki/eton/trade-in/mechanic dealership, (this is one of the few places where customer satisfaction is first), they had a 300ex with a white bros e-series pipe/silencer (he knew i wasnt intrested in buying a quad or a pipe) and the co-owner said that pipe would make it have unbelievable power, he said it would stand straight up in 4th gear with him on it, i bet i could get it to stand up in 5th with a WB! NE way, i would strongly suggest you go with a WB e-series exhaust.

 

the supertrapp is a damn good exhaust the isd2 race series is giving awesome power and also is real loud

 

If you plan to do any mods to the engine, I would get a pipe from Curtis Sparks. I had a DG pipe on mine with a K&N filter and air box mods and it was crap. Put a Sparks pipe on, and the engine came alive. It also responds great to engine mods.

 

i heard they were good . mine is almost too loud but thats not possoble to be to loud

 

Go with a Curtis Sparks.

 

I am leaning toward the Curtis Sparks x4, I have found plenty of good things with it, & no bad things. I really like that it works so well with a stock engine, which is what plan on keeping it. Just because I really want to keep the cash I put in this down. I am sure he will be moving up to a 400ex within a year, so I want to make sure I don't lose too much money on resale. Although I have thought about maybe a cam, but everthing I have found is for top end. He races MX, I was hoping for something to give bottom to mid. Thanks everybody for the input.
