1988 250r question..........
#1
I have a line on a "mint" or "creampuff" 1988 250r. Its perfect. The guy that has is the original owner and the bike has about 10 hours on the original factory bore. Everything on this bike is original even the plastic. Its been in storage since 1988. I rode it the other day and it fired on the fist kick with the choke on. Anyway, this guy wants to sell it and I'd like to buy it BUT I have no idea what would be a fair offer. What is this bike worth on the high and low end? NADA says the low is $1,025 and the high is $1,350 BUT what is it "really" worth on the market or are these prices fair?

It may vary around the different parts of the US, but race ready R's with stock frames are barely selling for $4,000 in my neck of the woods.
There's a ton of R's on eBay, and other various classified ads. None of them seem to be selling for what used to be an expected premium price...

It might depend on where you live, but a bone stocker with little hours on it around here will bring a fortune, and even modded ones will sell like hotcakes for amazing prices. The other day a man offered my wife $6000 for her 86 R.

I just don't understand HOW these bikes can bring that kind of money. I can buy a new off the showroom Banshee for some of the prices I've seen for stock or slightly modded 250r's. Better yet for that kind of money I could get a nice Quadzilla.
