I was seriously thinking about buying a Rancher until I looked at a Foreman 400. Now I'm not sure. I know some of the specs, but what's the real difference? I will be using this quad for utility 75% (towing a trailer with rocks, dirt, etc...), and 25% sport. Very confused!!!!! Need some help from the experts!
Thanks in advance!

Well it's all just a trap really, honda foreman 450 is just $200.00 more than the 400 foreman.
The foreman 450 is a grait sport utility machine
and can handle alote of things and still can be alote of fun as for the 400 well it's a grait machine to but you got a problem, for $200.00 dollars more you can get the 450 foreman, thats a problem that we hade when my dad was tring to decide between the machines and my dad was satisfied with all the better things that the foreman400 didn't have. To the rancher, the rancher is very sporty and powerful for how big it is and I recomend it to any body but thats all in how much you tow, if you tow alote[rancher], if you realy tow [foreman 400], if you realy want tow[foreman450], and if you want unbealivable towing power go for the [HONDA RUBICON].

in all my informathion i hoped it helped you.

The Rancher a better quad, by the looks, more ground clearance, better 4wd system, and cheaper and lighter. So go with the Rancher (ORANGE)

2000 Recon
Great Quad, No Problems yet

I think your choice is an easy one. If your doing 75% utility work, get the forman. Its a great machine for the things you mentioned.

And when you want unbeleivable, absolutly incredible towing power, get a Polaris Sportsman 500. If you want the most towing power that will make you soil yourself, get a Sportsman 700 twin.

The Rancher is the better choice.

Forman
Larger engine

Rancher
more ground clearance
better front end
ES has full floorboards
ES has cool digital dash

I know that they are making REAL good deals on Foreman 450. You can get one for a couple hundred more than a Rancher. I would look at that option since you are going to use the quad 75% of the time for utility.

I think which ever you can get a better deal on is your best choice. The new diff on Rancher is worth it over the torque power of the 400. However niether is a wrong choice. For strictly pulling though, i might go with the 400, great gearing for pulling and work, also a extremely durable tank like 4x4. Rancher a hard worker also, but not quit like the 400, Good luck on your decision. Go with the best DEAL!!!
