Harsh, Eric, that's not a stupid question, he's just looking for some info, give him a break.
cpformula, three things will give you the best bang for the buck, 1: complete exhaust, the stock head pipe is TINY, this will really let it breath, lots of brands out there, please be aware of the decibel level, don't want to tick off the neighbors !! 2: UNI or K&N filter, with rejet, maybe 1 or 2 sizes bigger, going up one size on the pilot will really help it start and idle better when cold,Hondas are jetted lean, makes them cold blooded. 3: 14 tooth front sprocket, with a freer flowing intake and exhaust, you will hit the rev limit a lot easier, going up one tooth makes a big difference, and will give you a little more top end as well. Other mods I have done to my son's 1999 300ex - put on a 350X carb to air box boot, it is bigger and flows more air, aftermarket cdi, to bypass that stock rev limit. 20" tires on the back will really make it handle and corner a lot better, the stockers are a little round and bouncy for my tastes. If money is a problem, the first 3 things will make the most difference, the rest you can do a little at a time. I'm sure you will love your 300ex, it handles great, is light, has reverse for the tight spots, and is an all around fun quad.

Thanks for the input, Eric. Glad to see not everyone here is a ****. Common sense would tell you I'm not trying for cosmetic beautification on a 300EX.
Is there a specific brand of exhaust that seems to work best as well as hold up the best over time (ie, not rust off)?
Thanks for your help.

This is what we did to out 300, and the basic things I do to any bike:
Frame----
Tires (those balooney stock tires have to go---ITP Holeshots are my preference).
Full chassis and swingarm skid plates.
Nerf Bars.
Bumper.
Handlebars (stock bars bend real easily).
Motor----
K&N with Outerwears or high flow sponge filter (your preference).
Vented air box lid (only if you don't ride in water all the time).
Header and exhaust (the header on the 300 is miserably small!).
The motor mods really perk the little 300 up. Note that they are only external mods. I stay out of the engine internals, for increased reliability! And, be sure your suspension is properly adjusted!!!

on my 2002 300ex i put a fmf mega max works great you can change plates for more power or speed. then i put a kn filter re jetted 2 over becaus e i run open air box.you will see improvments on power right then .the bike will be quick.sprockets change depends on where you ride tight woods 14 front on mine works great .but on open tracks need that 13in to rev way to quick not enough tire spin. try what you want but these things i told you about will help

I just threw on a wb E-series and that made a heck of a difference workin with a K&N filter. if your gonna be playin in the mud or snow i like my realtors tires but thier not the greatest for racing. also the works shocks make a big difference & the durablue axle is pretty much indestructable... well i hope that helps and have fun w/ the new toy

sry about that, if i were you and had a stock 300ex, with a good amount of money the first things i would get are nerfs air filter and pipe. if u have the money get the pipe and air filter together then get it re jeted so u dont have to do it twice. then later get little things...
