when i bought my 300ex i rolled it and changed my filter from a k&n to a uni- i went to an auto parts store and got a k&n recharge kit, i used the oil that was i there to spray my uni. would this work or am i losing power b/c of bad carb flow and stuff like that? would i also b losing ne power by not jetting it like u said 95wolv?? i bought it used from a friend who had the k&n so i dont know if he jetted it. He also had a powercore 2, but didnt jet the carb for it.
I also really want a 14 tooth front sprocket, but my dad wont let me touch my 4 wheeler. if i can convince him to let me get one do i have to increase my intake and exhaust (he wont even let me get a megamax or Q from fmf) (the pipe has to be quiet)
Thanks

Hey, No it isn't hard at all. All you have to do is.....
1. Take off left hand side tire
2. losen Chain
3. slip chain off sproket
4. unbolt old sproket
5 Bolt new sproket on
6. put chain bak on
7. Tighten chain
8 Put your tire bak on
That is it. About a 15 minute job.
The only thing is that if you go down in teeth you will need to change your chain so that it fits your new sproket

One thing I forgot to add about putting a pipe on a 300ex, the aftermarket pipes run very close to the rear fender by the seat, you are even required to move the rear brake master cylinder. Almost every 300ex I have seen with an aftermarket pipe has a melted spot or hole where it runs next to the rear fender by the seat, I got a square of heat tile with adhesive backing, took a pen and marked where the pipe came close to the fender, then took the fender off and generously covered the area with the heat tile. It has been several months, and no burns or melts, I also trimmed off a tiny bit of the side panel by the seat that ran real close to the clamp, just to be safe. My son has put a lot of hard miles and jumps on it with no problems, just make sure to clean the area for the heat tile and wipe with alcohol to make sure no oil or grease keeps the stuff from sticking, and you should have no problems.
