Honda 400AT and Rubicon Top Speeds
#1
Looking to replace our 450 S with either a 400AT or a Rubicon. We use it alot for riding from farm to farm on the road and top speed is very important to us. Our Foreman does about 44 MPH.
Does anyone know how fast a 400AT or Rubicon top out at?
Thanks in advance.

Within the Honda utility family, the Rancher 350 MIGHT have the top speed because of gearing. My 2003 450S has a top speed of 52 mph on flat hardtop. It's like Honda aims for the top speed of it's utilities to be between 50 and 55. I'm not sure what the top speed of the Rubi is.

I thought that a Rancher would do at least 55 mph. The Rincon didn't really come to mind. I guess I don't really think of the Rincon as a farm or "work" quad. Although it probably would do fine. It would be fun riding to and from barns or between hay loads.

Anyway I have been told by 5 or 6 people that the 350s top end is about 51-52. That is on flat ground. When I had my Rancher, it wasn't the ES version so it didn't have a speedo and I never knew how fast it would go.

We rented 2-wd 350 Rancher ES a couple of times. On a long stretch on the Paiute Trails I got one up to 52 mph. I don't think we have ever had our 350 Rancher much over 40. It will definately go faster, just never have.
We haver had the Rubicon up to 52 a couple of times and 55 once. Two riders, 85 lbs of gear and at 6800 ft in elevation. It shouldn't be driven that fast. LOL I think it would have crashed if I even farted.

If 52 is the top speed for a Rancher then it makes me feel a little better. Once in a while I ride with someone with a Rancher 4x4, (not sure if he has an S or ES) last time I went riding with them he said 55. I had my Recon at that time. So at least he shouldn't be able to go any faster than my Foreman 450 when everyone gets to playing.

95% of my friends ride Hondas so I can help you out some. Rancher 4x4 will hit 49-50. Rancher 2wd will do 52-53. Foreman 450 will do 55. I can't get my speedo to go past 55 on my Rubicon but I was runnin side by side with a Suzuki Vinson & his was at 57. Rincon will do 59-60. I've observed all this with my own 2 eyes...no guessin...hope I helped
