I had one of these for 8 years, I paid $200.00 for it and it ran like a champ, it never had brakes, I never adjusted the chain, the only thing i did to it was change the oil spark plug and air filter often, and also tires. It had a cracked case by the front sproket. This thing want any wear, it was better in the snow and teh mud then my Z400. it always started right up it was kept in a unheated shed. I was just wondering if you guys had one and if you liked it or not.
P.S I sold it for $200.00 about 5 years ago and it was running up til a year ago when they stripped it down for a rebuild.

I have one! My dad bought it new in 86. We have never put any money into it. It runs awesome, All we have done is change the oil and put gas in it. Anyone out there that is looking for a old wheeler for a small kid or beginner that is the wheeler for you.
P.S I like the 300 EX better! LOL

I had an '86 model myself. It was a great quad by the standards of those days if you didn't need the manual clutch.
The '84 was the year of shaft drive and hi/lo range[same engine as the '84200ES]
The '86-'88 models were 200SX
The '90-'97 models were 200D[with the big trunk lid] and 200D TypeII[racks]
One problem that plagues the '86-'88 200SX models are the ease of misaligning the axle when tightening the chain.....causing derailment and busted engine cases. I don't think I've seen one in years that hasn't had JB weld on it at some point.....LOL
