In a straight line, the Raptor will gobble up an EX like it is standing still. Throw in a few curves, and the EX will usually win. The EX is a great handler in stock form, compared to other stock bikes. They are also bulltproof. Keep the oil and air filter changed, and it will most likely outlast you.
I've been riding an EX for a little over a year. I just bought a V Force. I'll probably never ride the EX again. The V Force is quite an amazing machine.

This is a easy question....
Reliability - Both are reliable. The Raptor does have a issue with the one way starter, but you can install L&A Designs one way and fix that problem. Other then that, the raptor is just as reliable as the 400.
Speed - No question....Raptor. It's hard to build a 400ex to beat a stock Raptor, must well a Raptor with a aftermarket pipe.
Looks - The Raptor is the best looking quad built.
Handling - Stock form, EX. Lower a Raptor, and they are very close in handling.
