Rincon fuel problem

Default Rincon fuel problem

OK, brand new Rincon, first tank of fuel, is bubbling out fuel at the end of the pipe normally used to drain the carb.
I assume this pipe also acts as an overflow if the float does not cut off the supply when the bowl is full.
Is this a sign of a bit of gunge stuck in the float bowl needle valve assembly?
I'll try an air line blast tomorrow.

Must have been something in the system when the bike left the factory
as I double strain the fuel before putting it into the tank.

Any other ideas?

How difficult is it to gain access to the floatbowl
if it has to be disassembled and cleaned?
Is it necessary to remove carburettor completely?
How much stripping to achieve this?
Anyone done this before, while rejetting etc?

And before you ask, no, I don't want the dealer to do it.

Your assumptions are pretty good. I suggest you try this before you tear into the carb. Find the carb drain screw, very bottem of the carb facing out (not sure what side it's on), make sure it's tight (a little more than lightly seated) or THAT could be the cause of the leak. If the carb drain is tight, shut your gas off, loosen the carb drain screw about a turn, your carb gas should be running out the bottem hose (you want your float to drop to make room around the float needle). When it's done, pull the fuel line off the carb, and spray some commercial type carb cleaner into the spigot, letting it drain out the hose, avoid the temptation to use high pressure air in this particular situation, it can do more damage than good. Tighten your drain screw. While turning the gas on, tap lightly on the carb with the back of a screwdriver (keeps float needle from binding on the sides of the float seat) for 15 seconds or so. If it still leaks, you will have to remove the carb to access the float bowl. I've done this before but not for awhile, so I don't have the exact details in memory. However I don't remember it as being hard.

Sounds like dzzy has it figured out. Try all of the things he said and tell us how it worked out.

Default Rincon fuel problem

Thanks guys.
I held off on the airline treatment until I got some opinions.
I did already do the carburettor drain though, screw accessed through right side panel.
Will buy some commercial type carb cleaner tomorrow and give it the treatment.

Over the last 3 weeks, off and on, I've been adding different electrical bits and pieces
to kit the bike out for it's future life on the farm.
This machine has to be functional 24/7, so mostly additional work lights.
I promise I will post pictures of the "mods".

I had it out for it's first run yesterday, and I'm really impressed,
particularly with the rear axle articulation.

The switchable 4wd is a hoot,
turning circles are now really tight.

Moved up from a Foreman 450 EX, which I bought new '98.
I traded it in to a local dealer,
he never even got it into his shop.

Some punters saw it come off his delivery truck, and bought it there and then,
it was in "like new" condition.

Then again, I did look after it.

Will report back.
